The statement consists of a letter dated September 22, 2026, signed by the president of the Lomba Tantum Fishing Cooperative, Anildo Baptista Lobo, and addressed to the Mayor of Brava, with a copy to the MAA Delegate.

In the document, the cooperative states that the decision to cease its activities came after, according to its leaders, several attempts to arrange a meeting with the Lomba Tantum community. The Board maintains that this meeting never took place.

In the letter, the cooperative also expresses dissatisfaction with its relationship with the Mayor of Brava, Amandio Brito. Officials allege a lack of interest and goodwill regarding the proposed meeting and assert that certain issues raised were hindering the cooperative’s operations within the community.

In light of this situation, the group states that it has decided “to dissolve the aforementioned cooperative”, declaring that, at the time the letter was written, the organization no longer existed.

One of the main objectives outlined in the document is to hold a formal meeting between the Mayor of Brava, the MAA Delegate, and representatives directly linked to the cooperative.

According to the letter, the purpose of this meeting would be to proceed with the handover of the keys to the infrastructure and real estate currently under the responsibility of the cooperative’s officials.

The cooperative further justifies its decision to return the infrastructure by stating that, from its perspective, the organization no longer holds “value and respect” in the eyes of the Mayor of Brava and that, for this reason, it should not continue to retain possession of that infrastructure.

At the end of the letter, the officials request that the City Council and the MAA arrange a joint scheduling, specifying a date for the handover, with prior notice.

The letter, as published, does not include a response from the Brava City Council or the MAA representative to the accusations and requests made by the cooperative.

The case highlights the state of the infrastructure associated with the former Lomba Tantum Fishing Cooperative and the need to formally establish the handover of the keys and assets, should the dissolution process referred to in the letter be carried out as outlined.
